Yurt

A yurt can be used in several different environments.  The yurt is used during hot, cold, humid, and windy weather conditions.  The word, yurt has been around since the nomad time.  The yurt was used by the inhabitants of the countries in South East Asia.  These inhabitants used the yurt, a tent like structure as a mobile home.  The yurt has Russian traces, in Russian the word yurt is translated to Yurta.  Additionally, a yurt is often referred to as a "Ger."

There are several examples of a yurt; one being the Mangolian yurt.  For several centuries the yurt was used as a strategic means to give shelter to the nomad peoples.  Now the yurt is often used for camping purposes, disaster relief shelter, yoga retreats, eco friendly housing, portable housing, and sometimes extravagant backyard houses.  The yurt has been re-invented and revolutionized.  The yurt is now used to lead an eco-friendly way of living life and to help eliminate our carbon footprint.
