The True Canadian Yurt reimagines the traditional Mongolian yurt for modern living, blending centuries of proven design with Canadian craftsmanship and comfort. Built from Canadian-sourced wood and layered with natural, breathable materials, it creates a bright, open interior designed for flexibility, durability, and year-round comfort. Inspired by tradition but adapted for modern lifestyles. The True Canadian Yurt is equally suited for living, gathering, creating, or simply slowing down.
Built for real Canadian weather and real Canadian living, the True Canadian Yurt is a four-season structure you can trust. It stays warm in winter, cool in summer, and comfortable through wind, rain, and snow. Whether you are creating a backyard studio, an off-grid cabin, or a guest space that can help pay for itself, this yurt is made for year-round use.
The True Canadian Yurt is built for our climate and our expectations. It offers more insulation options, better moisture management, and thoughtful details that make it easier to build and live in year after year.
Crafted with natural, breathable materials, the True Canadian Yurt is designed to create a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment while preserving the warm, organic feel of traditional yurts. Built with Canadian-sourced wood, natural Mongolian wool insulation, a 100% cotton interior liner, and a durable cotton-blend exterior canvas, it offers a more natural alternative to many heavily synthetic building approaches, while maintaining durability.
The True Canadian Yurt is designed with long-term livability and modern building expectations in mind. Taller wall heights, double-pane glass, standard-sized Canadian lumber, and easier utility integration help create a structure that feels more compatible with many North American building approaches and living standards. Customers should still confirm local bylaws, site requirements, and occupancy regulations for their area.
The True Canadian Yurt blends modern simplicity with the warmth of natural materials to create a space that feels open, peaceful, and inviting. Its geometric timber roof system creates a more spacious and architectural interior, while the exposed wood structure adds visual warmth and the oversized central dome fills the space with natural light.
Built to feel more permanent than many traditional yurt designs while still maintaining the flexibility to be relocated if needed, the True Canadian Yurt adapts easily to a wide range of uses. Taller walls and a steeper roof pitch create a more open, functional interior that can more easily accommodate lofts, interior walls, plumbing, electrical systems, and everything from peaceful retreats and creative studios to guest spaces and full-time living.
Designed for four-season Canadian living, the True Canadian Yurt combines breathable insulation, moisture management, natural ventilation, and integrated airflow systems to create a comfortable interior year-round. The structure is also compatible with modern heating systems including wood stoves, pellet stoves, electric heat, radiant heating, and mini-split systems.
Hand-crafted Canadian wood structure featuring solid pine wall posts and Douglas fir roof huns (roof rafters). Designed for comfortable four-season living with breathable, natural materials and a complete weather-protection system.

The True Canadian Yurt is built with the details that support year-round living, and offers upgrade options to help you fine-tune warmth, airflow, and durability for your site.

The set-up process is typically completed over two days and is designed as a hands-on workshop experience.
For both True Canadian Yurt sizes, you will need a minimum of 4 helpers on site for the duration of the set-up. Helpers should be comfortable lifting at least 50 lbs.
